Increase your Workshop Opportunities!

Routine battery testing is often overlooked. By introducing one  simple additional step into your service routine you can increase your workshop profit opportunities and customer satisfaction with  ease.

Follow the steps below Test every battery!

test every battery that enters your workshop! By doing this you will reveal opportunities that you didn’t realise were there beforeranging from battery charging to battery replacement. Don’t hesitate to include testing into your service process, with a Midtronics battery tester like CPX-900, each test takes under 2 minutes, giving you clear instructions on whether it’s a good battery or if it needs charging or replacing.

Offer a Charging Service

If your test result displays ‘Good – Recharge’ or ‘Recharge and Retest’ you can offer a charging service. By using a CTEK or Midtronics battery charger it will not only top up the battery but also condition it. By using a CTEK charger such as the PRO 25S, you have 25a of charging power delivered with CTEK’s 8 step charging system that de-sulphates, charges and protects the battery. This gives you full confidence that your customer is leaving with a battery in better condition that it entered with.

As a guide,  workshops usually charge around £10+VAT for a charging service. Looking at data from our ROBIS™ system, if a workshop was to test on average 150 vehicles a month around 50 of those batteries would benefit from charging. That’s £500 in pure profit and increased customer satisfaction.

Battery Replacement Opportunities

Sometimes batteries need to be replaced. This can easily be identified by Midtronics battery testers as they have advanced testing algorithms designed for modern batteries including AGM, EFB as well as MF types. Batteries are often like burglar alarms and only purchased after the worst has happened. The ability to give a customer early warning and also explain the reason with a ROBIS™  generated Battery Health Report opens up the potential for additional battery sales and the profit that goes with them plus a satisfied customer.

Customer Engagement and Satisfaction

Most customers do not understand the importance of a 12v battery to a vehicle, let alone understand a battery test result and why either charging or replacement is important. Explaining why can be difficult, potentially resulting in lower customer satisfaction. We have created a solution to avoid this. We have designed Customer Diagnostic Battery reports into our award winning ROBIS™ (Rotronics Online Battery Information System) portal. When your Midtronics battery tester is connected to WiFi, battery test results automatically upload to ROBIS™ , and you can then produce a customer diagnostic report. Featuring a simple traffic light reporting system with easy to understand descriptions, you can easily communicate to customers why the battery maintenance steps you have taken are important.

Customer Retention

Sometimes battery related issues are not easily fixed. For example, if a customer has a current drain on the vehicle this can be hard to diagnose. When testing a battery in a vehicle the Midtronics CPX-900 will ask you for a Vehicle ID. By recording the vehicle registration plate you can then use ROBIS™ to track each test that you have performed on the vehicle. Over time, this can help you to identify potential underlying electrical issues with the vehicle and asist in troubleshooting.

Warranty Claims

New batteries sometimes fail within their warranty period which allows a claim to be made on the manufacturer, usually via the supplier. To have the claim approved battery manufacturers require proof that the battery is faulty. Often workshops have struggled when claiming warranty as they don’t have  acceptable data to support a claim. As Midtronics battery testers automatically upload test results to be stored on ROBIS™  you have all the necessary testing data instantly available online to download.
