SF Tebby & Son increases revenue significantly, using Rotronics Battery Management Programme

The initial investment of around £1,000 for the Midtronics CPX900ROBISP, plus a £240 annual ROBIS subscription can easily be justified by the revenue it generates. 

Established in 1971  independent automotive workshop in Bristol, SF Tebby & Son made the investment a few months ago and now offers free battery testing with any service, and a £10 fee for standalone fixes. This approach, combined with a battery replacement rate of around 30%, translates into significant new revenue. Jack Bryant, assistant manager of the garage said, “the tester paid for itself within a month. The revenue opportunities are incredible, and we have confidence in the results we provide to our customers.”

What Can ROBIS do?

We are pleased to announce that ROBIS has reached five million test results since its inception in February 2019.

ROBIS has been busy over the past three years, gathering battery data from vehicle workshop customers across different industry sectors, including automotive main dealers, commercial vehicles, emergency services, fleet workshops, independent workshops, public service vehicles, and specialist roadside organisations. From the five million battery tests to date, key results show that:

• 41% of the batteries were in good condition, showing that 59% of the vehicles on the road require some attention
• 35% of batteries required charging to prevent roadside breakdown
• 13% needed replacing to get vehicles back on the road

ROBIS is an industry-first web-based dashboard and reporting system, used by international, national, and regional workshops to identify battery problems within their fleet. The system collects data on the frequency of battery tests, alongside live battery health data, presented in easy-to-read reports that identify batteries in need of recharging, replacing, or re-balancing. A proactive battery management programme helps to reduce battery associated non-starts, as well as roadside defects and unnecessary costs due to breakdowns.
